Title: Yew Bow Back from the Warped Grave
Post by: Gunnar on November 21, 2017, 09:26:44 pm
I posted a few months ago some pictures of a bow I had started that developed some very serious warping issues, with the hope I could gain some advice on possibly fixing it. I took that advice and using dry heat, which has turned out to be awesome (never used it before) and was able to salvage to bow. it still has a little warp, but it causes the string to line up perfectly with the arrow rest. Thanks for the help.

That looks like a very nice bow.  Great job on it.

Your bow turned out great! When a bow starts to go south for me I put it on the rack and forget about it for a while until i see it hanging there and make a little adjustment. If that does not fix it i'll put it back for a month or so. Eventually I either get a good bow or toss it in the firewood pile to end the misery. Your bow looks like a big success IMHO

Excellent! Great to have the feedback too  :)
It's those obstinate staves that teach us most.
I love that style of bow... my fave'

With what looks like a fair amount of reflex a generous draw and not an overly long bow, I would have to say you did a great job.

Really like the back on that bow.the dark spots and the fact that you didnt change the color of it just screams natural.

Nice bow Gunnar, How heavy is it?
It draws about 48#@27”. Little lighter than I like but the bottom limb was quite a bit weaker so I had to take a lot off off the top limb. The slight recurve on the top is still a little stronger but I’m pretty please with how it turned out considering what it was like before
