Title: thanks to Chris for a great weekend
Post by: paulsemp on March 07, 2018, 03:55:52 pm
Last weekend myself Greg and Mike went up to Chris's to spend the weekend to make bows.  we spent most of the time working in his Workshop and watching him cook us food. Every meal was planned out and phenomenal. Spent a half a day to go do some stump shooting and flight shooting. Chris gifted me a little yew branch that I turned into a new bow for my daughter Nina. I also finished up a Osage longbow . Greg spent most of his time working on his Elm Hall donation bow. Mike finished up a yew bow that turned out sweet. And Chris did nothing but make a bow that broke! And on top of it on my way out the door he sent me home with some wood. I only took a few pictures but I wanted to share them. Thanks a lot Chris had a great time!

Motley looking Crew for sure.....hate to hear that the hackberry static bit the dust, but i heard once,  if your not breakin your not makin....
Like Clint said any good "hunting" stories told that weekend.  anything like the mystery of "Chief Running Arrow"??  I hear tales of his presents and days of hunting.............

Nina looks like she has grown at least 2" bet her draw length is growing too.... :) just means more bows from Dad.
Thanks for the pics, Paul.

What an amazing weekend, its second time in three years we have got together in my shop. The time I spend with these guys, and several other long distance friends, is priceless to me. And like all good things, it goes by much too fast. The last pic is a rock n roll pose just for Goat. We made three yew bows from his gifts to me. For the record, the hackberry static isn't dead, just needs some Greg love. Several of you will see it first hand in May, and maybe even own it.  ;)  And, yes I can cook Steve-O! Like a mad man, I thoroughly enjoy feeding people  -C-

Good time makes for great memories. I wish I had the time and money to tour the U.S. and spend a weekend here and there with guys I have met here on the PA site.

Matt I wanted to ask more of you fellas over, but I simply don't have the space to fit anymore in the shop or beds. I spent a lot of time just making strings for the guys, and of course, running my trap :) . There was room for three vices/presses and the guys used them all weekend!

Pat the only thing that got in trouble was the coffee pot. We hammered the coffee for 3 days straight! Used almost 3/4 of a large tub.

You know it Kyle, its also the secret weapon to the late nights under the pavilion lights at Marshall. I am wrapping up a yew bow I started Saturday after dinner. Hopefully I can post it, and another osage RD I'm wrapping up, in a week or so.

Maybe I'll have to try that this year. Can't wait to see those bows.  I'm trying to get a little osage done for my dad to shoot. Maybe some day I'll have a shop worthy of having guests in.

Not sure if we're going to make it this year Scott. We're going on a big family trip to the Caribbean in June and with Marshall at the end of May it's really starting to push what I can get away with at work for time off

Yeah I owe Chris bag of coffee. I'm known for some serious coffee drinking

Come on down BJ. You'll get to witness how many pina coladas I can drink in one day.... you'll definitely run out of fingers and be well into your toes for counting

I've never been there but sounds like fun. If I took my wife there she might not think the PA meets were as fun and then I of get stuck going to some beach somewhere laying around in the sun. That'd be terrible.lol
