After Fred Arnold passed away, I emailed his son, David and sent condolences.  I told David how much I appreciated his father's help as I was getting started--Fred is one of the people that made this place feel like a community that I could belong to.  David responded by offering me one of his father's staves. I was happy to accept, and a while later he sent me a beautiful piece of osage.  This bow is my way of remembering Fred and what he did for me and this group.  I hope you enjoy looking at it.
Some stats:
-Length: 64" knock-to-knock
-Width:  1.5" parallel to midlimb, then tapering down to 3/8"
-Draw:  55# @ 29 inches
-Tip overlays:  laminated layers of buffalo horn, deer antler, and cow horn
-Static recurve that started with 2" of setback.  After shooting it in, the bow has taken just over an inch of set--all mid-limb.
-Finish is 7 coats of tung oil buffed out with a pumice slurry.
-string is made of 10 strands of powerpro fishing line.  silencers are rabbit fur.

Those are very special bows. You can pick them up and fling a few arrows with your lost friends. I have a special bow like that to. Always feels good to shoot that one.
That really is a beautiful bow Jeff and nice thought and gesture. I love the tip overlays and the rest of the bow as well.

Thank you all for the kind words.  I never met Fred in person, or even talked with him on the phone--like most of the people here.  I did learn from him, but very little about bow building. This is a great place, and one where I didn't expect to fit in or be accepted. You can probably tell that my building style takes a little from a whole bunch of people  posting here--I try to learn from everyone.  So, thanks for the help.
