Title: This one surprised me
Post by: rps3 on April 07, 2018, 04:38:20 pm
The more I took a drawknife to this stave, the more I had to cut away, until I was left with a one inch wide piece with a knot in the upper limb. My expectations were low for this bow, but it turned out to be a fine arrow slinger. 63" long, low 50's draw weight at 28"

That Osage is amazing stuff. I think you had something to do with it too.  :BB

Real nice,

Thanks a lot guys, I appreciate it. I don't know why the pictures look a little funny, they didn't look like that on my laptop.

Lovely bow, guess it doesn’t take much osage to make a good bow!

Thanks again. It sure doesn't take much osage to make a good bow. Every time I use it I am grateful to have access to as much as I need.

You should be grateful!  Whenever I wrestle yet another mediocre bow stave with my heat gun, made by butting a couple 2" diameter elm branches I stole from a ditch next to the highway (slippery elm at that), trying to arrange their two dozen pin knots each, I keep thinking,  "Having access to a bunch of osage orange would like being born rich, smart, and handsome!"

 ;) ;) ;) ;D ;D ;D :P :P :P
