So this is some oak from here in south GA that was cut the other week. I decided to try and save a couple pieces for knife handles and maybe bow handles or something. Anyway, I have rough cut it with the table saw and sprayed a generous coat of spray lacquer all over it-4 sides and both ends. It is currently in a not climate controlled shop...what else should I do to try and control the moisture out so it doesn't check too bad?
Thanks, Paul

I consider red oak to be a whitewood so the back is the wood under the bark.
Seal the ends and the back.
