Title: Weeping Cherry trunk
Post by: osage outlaw on June 24, 2018, 05:38:00 pm
My wife wants to cut down her weeping cherry tree in the front yard.  I think that tree is grafted onto another trunk.  Does anyone know what kind of trunks are used?  I could get some billets or short staves if it's good bow wood.

They are usually grafted on to something similar in vascular system. So maybe mulberry or black cherry. Can u find the graft line readily?.  If u still had the tag sometimes they have the grafting stock listed on it.

The tree was planted 8 years ago.  The tag is long gone.

The typical choice is a variety of sweet cherry. So likely not bow wood.
