Title: Best looking juniper branch I've seen recently
Post by: Taxus brevifolia on July 06, 2018, 11:00:41 pm
I've looked at a lot of juniper in the last few weeks. This branch has straight mostly clear grain along the inside of the curve, which measures 61"

I've been seeing an awful lot of really straight Utah Juniper lately.  Thinking about asking for permission to cut one.  Lot of dead but too far gone.  Then you don't have to worry about reaction wood like in a branch.  Cloudfeather made a couple bows from juniper branch, I recall they came out pretty well.

You sure post a lot of nice wood, time to make some bows with it all

Agreed, I'm juggling a lot of things. I had some time off work so naturally I went after bow wood and obsidian. I'm tethered to a shorter leash for a few weeks, so maybe I can for once actually tiller a bow. I've got a few lined up ready for it.
