Hard Maple 30#@24", 6 red osier arrows if I get a chance I will put a quiver together to go with it.

I'm sure somebody will like that !!
-
Dana: Your talents are only exceeded by the charitable nature of your heart. :) That's great.
Is TOJAM the same thing as the Classic at Pappy's? I read somewhere it stood for Twin Oaks Jamboree. If it is, I look forward to meeting you there.

thats just beautiful Dana.
i was wondering if you could post a pic of what that red osier bush looks like that you get your arrow wood from,if its the same bush i'm thinking of, i know where there is literally thousands of them bushes growing. they all seem to have usable sized shoots too. just curios if you could show me a pic please.
-
Dana I would like to see the pics in the wild as well.
When is TOjam by the way. After having been to Ojam I'm thinkin I need to make either MOjam or TOjam this year . I'm leaning towards TOjam since I will get to meet Pappy and Dana and several others on here whose work I admire. Danny

That is one admirable GiveAway! Any chance of a full draw for April Self BOM consideration?
-
Someone is going to be stoked :)
-
No Don there isn't a full draw if the kid that receives it wants to post one they can, sorry.
-
Dana-great looking bow and a great gesture, too. You'll make someone's day for sure.
-
Really nice Dana! Great job on those tips and the grip looks really nice as well. Impressive.... ;)
-
I'm also interested in the red osier. I didn't know if they would grow here( Northern. Il.) but guess they would if you got them in Michigan!!
Very nice of you to make the bow for a giveaway!!
Where did Super Yooper go??? I was without a computer for a while and saw Super Yooper and thouhght there was someone new, but now is he gone??..... I get confused easily!!!! ;D
-
Lowell, according to the USDA map, you should have red osier dogwood, silky dogwood, rough-leaved dogwood, and gray dogwood in your area. All are very similar plants that make good arrows.
-
Someone is going to be really happy with that set.
-
Did a little reading about red osier and found we have it but seems everyone here calls it red twig dogwood. Maybe like a creek here is a crick , stream or brook in another part of the country!! ???
Took a bike ride tonight to a quarry where I had remembered seeing some and cut some. Stripped the bark off and bundled up to dry and will give it a try!! ;)
-
That's a beautiful set Dana!!! Your too generous, or are you making room on the bowrack ;D.
-
Beautiful bow and arrows, Dana, and a very kind gesture on your part. Jawge
-
Dana
what a beautiful bow, Dana..your kindness seems to have no end.... now..do you happen to have a 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am (Bandit) in mint condition you want to give away...
Bishop
-
Great job Dana, that is a beautiful set. :)
Pappy
-
Paul this one was bigger but I snapped a tip off trying to bend it, rather than waste the wood I figured
might make a bow for a kid, I also had some undersized red osier shafts so why not make some arrows :)
All the set needs is a quiver, but my man cave is undergoing its spring flooding so I'm shut down for a little
bit. >:(
Bishop haven't seen one of them since high school, besides Mopar ruled back then ;)
-
Somebody gona be a happy camper. Thats real nice equipment .
-
Nice set Dana. Someone will be happy with it.
I have made a HHB bow from wood Greg and Pappy gave me that will be going to Twin Oaks Club to be raffled off also. Pat
-
Really Nice bow Dana, like the arras to.
-
Thanks guys anyone have a kids sized quiver to go with this, IOf so let me know I will make it worth yer while.
-
Dana- I might have a store bought quiver you can have. It's not a kids but it's real small. If I can find it you can have it. I'll let you know if I come up with it.
-
;D ;D ;D
Thanks rick hoping to cut ya some shafts this weekend ;)
-
I missed this one. Great bow Dana Im sure it will make someone really happy. If its for a big kid I might qualify ;D Jesse
-
Nice looking combo Dana, say, when do you harvest your arrow shafts, I think I have red osier growing down in my woods in back of my house, as soon as I can get back there I'll snap a photo and you can tell me if thats what it is.

VB I like to get the red osier anytime there are no leaves only because its easier to see the straight ones.
Actually don't worry to much about straight as the as the bends are gently, osier straightens easy with heat.
