One of my favorite evening adventures this time of year is to walk the thousands of acres of public land here in south central Alaska and look for spruce hens with my bow. I recently met a guy through work who is really up on his mushroom knowledge and he has shown me an entirely new food group available here. There are so many to choose from. So now stump shooting has turned to "Mushroom Hunting". I'm on a selfbow kick lately and this vinemaple called lumpy is shooting very well!

haha, those mushrooms can be wary creatures, cant make too much noise ; ) I've been dreaming about finding some chantrelles or kings to go with my venison when archery season opens this weekend -C-

Beware that many Laetiporus mushrooms are potentially unsafe (included chicken of woods)
those grown on conifers (pines) gather usually dangerous elements
there are also known toxic interactions between laetipori and alcool
