Title: Denver rock collecting?
Post by: paulc on October 30, 2018, 05:44:36 am
Anyone have recommendations for legal public areas to collect knap-able stuff in Denver area? I'll be in town for 36hrs this weekend.  Thanks, Paul

I never saw anything when I lived there. Lots of granite and basalt.

My contact said there is jasper out east and petrified wood to the southeast, and real good rock 300 miles northwest!   Try the creek bottoms, river beds and road cuts.  I have one more contact to try.

Well I tried to get into Pawnee Grassland Monument area just for kicks but ran out of time so I stopped and had a beer,  already forgot the town name.  Wife and I hope to hike a bit tomorrow some maybe I can kick up some rock then. Windy as crap out here....Paul
