I see a lot of posts with a http links to pictures instead of the pictures posted in the thread, this makes it tedious for us to view the pictures.
Please insert the pictures instead of links. When I see multiple links I usually look at one picture and move on to another thread.

I'm the same Eric. Sometimes I don't even open one link. Most folks are using their smart phones and that technology is different from a desktop or laptop and because I don't have a smart phone I don't know how they work. They can do everything else on their smart phones so I don't know why they can't do this. ???
-
I agree 100 percent i just pass the post
-
Yup, if you're just posting links you're not getting half the exposure your bow deserves :)

I'm lucky to be able to turn the phone/iPad on and take a picture. I use imgur as a host, and the link is what happens when trying to upload. I'm trying to figure out how to get a picture to attach directly to a post on PA, and how to avoid the imgur "link". I think many others are in the same position.

Your phone takes large pictures; too large to upload to PA. If you have an iphone you need an app to resize your photos. I use “resize it” app. It’s free. Resize the photo to 600 x 800 and it should be small enough to upload directly to PA.
-
Some of these folks are using photo hosting sites like Igmur that resize pics automatically once you set it up but still post only links.
-
Ben, I used a photo resizer app on my phone, resized photos and they still wouldn't post. I posted with flickr which created one link with all my pics included in that one link. I actually thought that was pretty convenient & easy to view.
-
I make lots of bows but haven't posted on here in a long time because it is just too much trouble to post pics.
-
I guess using a PC helps. I have an old camera I set on 640x480 just for this. As you can tell posting pics is no problem for me. I've never tried using my phone for it. I have trouble enough making a phone call with it. No point calling in the profanity demons ;D

I use photobucket from hosting, when you copy the link in photobucket just make sure you pick the img link and the photo should show up full size in your post.

Imgur had an IMG link on the right side of the page your picture is displayed on, copy and past it in your text, real easy. It is called a"BB code" on the dropdown.
Works every time, I do use a PC, I don't have a smartphone.

PaSteve, depending on what setting you have your phone set to, 600x800 may not be small enough. You need them to be under 250 kB. Try 640x480.

I don't like to see Photobucket's leering logo. Since they reneged on their free hosting, I have removed all my photos from their site and hope they go broke.
-
I agree Jim. That’s why I’m a proponent of not using a hosting site. Who knows when these other hosting sites will do the same thing. Nothing more frustrating than finding that perfect thread that answers your questions only to find that the images are missing. Photos are truly worth a thousand words.
-
The site dumps photos after awhile too. Nothing is forever.
-
I wasn’t aware of that. Does anyone know how long photos are kept?
I can’t say I blame them. Servers aren’t free.

The Bow photography tutorial (pinned at the top of the Bow page) that I did details how to do this. If you read down through the comments someone kindly gave the details on using Imgur (which is now what I use as well). It's really the best way to show off your bows on this site. Posting them directly with the size limit is ok but the pictures are often too small to see the details well.

I believe PA has limited storage space. Whenever you upload a new picture it deletes an older one. We have lost some great posts because of that. I know using an image hosting site like imgur is a bit more work but it doesn't use up any of PA's storage space.

Photo bucket has reinstated free third party use, most of the pictures I lost in threads are back but have the PB watermark in the lower left corner. If you pay them about $4 a month your pictures won't have a watermark.
I have pictures on PB I don't have on my computer, every time I buy a new computer the guys who transfer my data to the new computer seem to overlook a bunch of my picture files.
-
I use my phone and Photobucket. For some reason and I hate to even say it, I never lost my abilities to host third party with them. Hope their not
Reading this.lol
I always make a IMG copy and then save it to my phones library. I still have to go to editing and crop my pictures or they still won't post. I like cropping them anyway. I think they look better when I remove the unnecessary parts of the pictures. I just have to remember when I'm taking close ups not to get to close so I can still remove part of the picture. I don't know how to from my computer. I have them saved on goggle photos to. I don't know how to edit or post from there or even if I can.

Just trying to see if this works. Some of my pics seem to distort at 640 × 480. Thanks Ben
-
Steve I don't know if it helps for you, but if I was posting that IMG picture from my phone I would probably edit and crop off the top 25 or 30 percent of it. Then it would post for me and I actually think it would look better. If you understand what I'm saying. Might take a little off the bottom to. It just makes the Bow more the center of attention

Thanks BJ. All this photo stuff is new to me so I need all the help I can get.
