Title: My new bow
Post by: david w. on April 06, 2008, 02:56:04 pm
Here is my new bow.

It is red oak board.  it pulls in the upper 50s @ 28".  it screams an arrow. i mean it really fast.
it is 2" wide at midlimb and the last 15" taper to 3/8" at the nocks.  it is 66" ntn

it is backed with linen and painted black. i stained it dark walnut.  it is finished with deft.

i love this bow.
sorry iam a terrible picture taker the pictures dont do it justice

Looks like a great bow David. I hope you will excuse me being a little critical. The top limb appears to be bending just a little more right at midlimb.  It appears that the top limb has taken a little more set than the bottom.  I think it is because of the extra bend at midlimb. I'm not trying to knock your bow because it is really good, but when a few guys started pointing out little things on my bows it really helped me improve.   Justin

your absolutely right the top limb took more set than the bottom and it is bending more at midlim.
Critizm is welcome it will only help

the tiller isnt perfect but i am happy with it it flings an arrow fast and straight. i would love to take it hunting

The tiller is real close to perfect.  I would say that the bottom limb is perfect.  You should use it as  a reference on your next bow.  Justin

Very nice job, good design for performance and paralell limbs. Justin, I think everyone here knows that you are being constructive and helpful when you make a suggestion as it should be, and ditto what you suggested. Steve

Nice work David...

The critique of the others brings up a question for me.  The bow appears to be "out of balance" so that the draw makes it look like it is tilting down.  Is this because of the apparently weaker top limb???

Just curiousity making me think that you could definitely feel the balance issue when one is tillering the bow....

Good job DW. I like the overall apperance with the dark stain and black linen. Looks like a good shooter.
