I made this bow during the Tennessee Classic last week. It's 45@26. The stave had thin rings and I removed nearly half an inch of wood to get to the ring I wanted. I left the rings built up on the back of the handle to keep it the full depth. I like the way it looked with the fades on the back so I cut the copperhead skins around them. I finished it with clear matte wheel paint in a rattle can. The tip overlays are big horn sheep. I went nearly 2 years without building a bow. This is the second one I have finished in the last month. I hope to get back on track and make a few more this summer.
I really enjoy working in the bow shop at the Classic. It's a great environment to make a bow. You can get several sets of skilled eyes to help if you run into a problem. It's really cool to be working beside PatB, Pappy, Gary Davis, WillH, Cody Wright, and many more great guys that hang out in the bow shop. I watched Joel start with a bark on stave early in the week and worked it into a great looking and shooting selfbow. Seeing his excitement as his bow took shape was fun to watch.
The photos were taken at the spirit station at Twin Oaks.

Really nice Clint. I'd say all those eyes probably agreed that's a well tillered bow.

PS your getting skinny. I think my wife needs to feed you some.lol. Looks like your getting in good shape for that Elk Hunt.
-
Whoa, I really like your handle. And the tiller and profile are spot on :OK
You figure out which bow you're gonna take on the elk hunt?
-
Very nice! I like the back fades, different, but not so much, the snake, don't dig spiders, either! Hope to see you at MoJam! I think you want to bring at least one back up bow on the elk hunt! Getting closer! Hope to get out for turkey this week or next! Not sure about elk yet!

Nice. Love the way you did the handle. Tiller looks spot on.
-
I'm with Hawkdancer, not a snakeskin fan, but it's a beautiful bow. Well done!

Purty nice mister. I like that grip shape/contour. It just melts right into your bow hand.
-
Thanks guys. This bow will not be making the cut for my elk hunting trip. I want to use something heavier than 45 lbs.
-
I am gonna go out on a limb, not sure upper or lower limb, and say that is one of the sweetest looking bows you have ever made, Clint.
-
Right on, Clint! That looks great! It was awesome meeting you at the Tennessee Classic!
-
I gotta be honest buddy... that bow is on a whole nother level. That grip and those skins, sweet tiller as well. Great worwork my friend.
-
Man, it has been a while. I almost forgot how much I love seeing your bows. That handle is cream of the crop. )P(

Great looking bow. I really like your handles. The skins look great!

Those are the pinkest (I mean that in a manly way) copperhead skins I think I've seen. In person the color really comes out. As always the bow is awesome too.

Those pictures were taken on Sunday afternoon right before I headed home. So unless it got done after then it didn't get painted.
-
awesome bow Clint! I hope to see and shoot it in a couple of weeks at MoJam... wish I had visited with you at the Classic but there was just too much to see and do in too little time...maybe next year.

I won't be able to make Mojam this year Bob. I've got an elk hunting trip this fall that is taking up the rest of my vacation time.

I hate to hear that...I thought you would be a sure winner for the chop stick bow winner after that crazy cool tiny bow you had there last year. Enjoy the hunt. See you next year.
-
I love the way you left extra rings on the handle to get enough thickness. Never thought of trying that. I love the handle shape and the tiller is really nice. Great job!
-
Clint's bow will be at MoJam. ;) Though, if I could choose, would prefer it was The Outlaw himself who was there.
-
Awesome looking bow!!
