When this day comes due and you have to clean out your shop and burn all the scraps, broken limbs and the other assorted brocabrac you held on to thinking you would use it some day.
-
I see some keeper stuff there. (A) (lol)
-
Sometimes it is better to toss stuff and start over, those limbs have some major flaws in them that even I wouldn't try to fix and I will fix just about anything. They are from a takedown but split where the wood went into the sleeve just about the time I got to brace. I had violated the grain at this point fitting the sleeve thinking that with a non bending handle it wouldn't matter, it did.
-
What about Atlatl handles.
I'm pretty bad about saving stuff. I figured my daughter can deal with it wheni'm gone. ;D
-
I don't let my pile get that big. But I do have a lot of iffy staves.
I recently acquired a small wood stove, so I'm slowly building a pile of stove-length Osage.
-
Lot of overlays in there...some fishing lures..
Chess pieces,.. (lol)
-
I usually try to cook some meat with them.
-
Nope. I relish those days. I keep a fairly clean shop and burn scraps regularly, but every once in a while I go on a mission, clean the whole shop and cull staves and start a big fire. Big clean up or just clearing off the benches, it always makes me feel better and ready to be more productive. I'm due.

Georgia' O'Keefe burned her less than perfect work. keep a lean bow area, but I need to clear it out, burn it or something.

Past time again, I made a ton of gizmos to donate to raise money for St Jude, this tub is just the tip of the iceberg. These are trimmings from sawmill cut walnut and curly maple as well as some I slabbed out of a log with a chainsaw as well

Redbeard Dave once had quite a stash of offcuts and such he was saving as source of overlays, handle risers, etc.
One night his wife held impromptu bonfire for the neighborhood . . .
-
I remember a bowyer in here that lost his stash of premium osage staves when his daughter had some boys over for a bonfire.
-
That's painful JW. :'(
Eric, I hate it, but it's kinda liberating burning up those failed attempts. :D
