Title: Is this river cane?

I dont know what this stuff is looks like river cane from online pics of seen but I am not sure. I couldn't get closer cause there was no where to park my car.

Where do you live?  River cane grows to about 15' tall and is about 3/4" in diameter. There are 3 native canes in the US but hundreds of exotics brought in to the US from elsewhere.

Down the bayou in Louisiana we call that “roseau” cane, phragmites is the proper name.

Looks more like the invasive type of Phragmites.   It does make a very good light arrow if prepared properly and cut at the right time.

Yeah just went by that area walking not worth it its light and seems not durable. I was hoping it would be good for arrows but not worth the work.

It's worth it.  It's much tougher when cured.

Definitely phragmites - we are over run with the stuff in the north woods.
