Title: Does wood type affect tuning?

I found a nicely-priced test kit at Wapiti archery:  They sell two shafts each in four different spines for about $23.  They don't say what kind of wood it is (and I haven't heard back from them yet, and I'm impatient).  As long as the spine is correct, does it matter as far as tuning goes?  I know different woods have different densities which might affect cast, but it doesn't seem like it should affect tuning.  Correct?

Makes no difference. Its all about spine. Wapiti sells a lot of douglas fir, fantastic arrow wood in my opinion.

 Similar spine weight between different species of woods is roughly equivalent to the difference between a pound of lead and a pound of feathers.

Not the difference between point of impact can be related to different woods, but truly it is better described  as dependent on the difference in the mass of the shafts.

Clear as mud?

I think I get the idea.  Wapiti's test shafts are POC, and I mostly shoot sitka spruce.  I'm guessing a 29" sitka arrow is going to weigh a little different than a 29" POC arrow, and probably hit at a different point vertically.  But I'm mostly just trying to get the horizontal flight tuned by finding out what spine works best with my rather wide-handled, off-the-hand bow, so I don't think it should matter for that.

We shall see!

I bump up in spine for extra heavy arrows opposed to light arrows, usually 5# or so.

Sitka are only about 10% heavier on average than POC, so you are getting pretty close to the same all around.

Yeah, it seems like the slight weight difference won't matter too much for tuning...that's the assumption I'm going on.  Now, when I start building arrows out of African blackwood, I'll probably have to take it into consideration...   ;D
