My granddaughter presented me with the shed from her Ball Python. I know there was a few threads on here about using them as backing but the pictures are gone or at least I can't find them. Anyone got some pictures or links? Apparently they are tricky to use. Any advice?

purely aesthetic not really a backing material... personally I don't find them pleasing since so transparent ...JM2C..gut

Yeah but when your granddaughter gives them to you----

Here’s one with a ball python shed. The only thing g that’ll show is if the snake has some black banding. So the more contrast between the light and dark bamdings the better it’ll show. It’s really not too difficult to work with. You just need to rehydrate the skin without getting it soaking wet. Essentially leave it in a tub with damp paper towels and mist it with a spray bottle. They look neat, but their biggest downside is that they are delicate even after being applied. I feel like using a harder clear coat may protect them well enough. I have several adult ball pythons and have an ever growing collection, so I get lots of them to play with. Just don’t put them down where your hands will be touching.

I picked up a very fresh timber rattler shed from under a porch. It was still wet and has quite a bit of pattern showing.

Now that one will look nice!

Hopefully not your own porch Eric!
I left that kind of nonsense when I moved from Denver.

Seems like misdirected ambition to me.
