Title: San documentary
Post by: Mesophilic on February 16, 2020, 03:11:38 pm
Here's a pretty good documentary on a group of San bushmen.  This one explores a bit more of their philosophy than other videos I've seen.  Add an H to the beginning of the link.

A couple of things I wonder as I watch these videos, how would their hunts change if they used a more powerful bow with a bigger broad head?  A good double lung shot seems like it'd bring down the game much faster than tracking for hours waiting for a poison to take effect.

And, how would an atlatl change things for them?  Maybe they wouldn't have to run for hours to tire out the larger game, as they could throw the darts farther than their spears and maybe ambush hunt.

I know these traditions go back millenia and it works for them, but just about the how's and why's.

That's a good one, thanks. I'm about halfway through it.

As a knife maker,  one two second clip I caught, was watching one of the hunters strop his knife on a log using some sand.  Never would have thought of that.
