Hi!
I didn't have dry staves for a long time and so I didn't make any bow and there was nothing to post as well :).
Lilac D shape belly
the widest part 1 inch
60'' by the bow 58'' string
44 pounds at 27''
4 layers of sinew covered with goat skin
tru oil
She is actually made like a hornbow. Bamboo core and elm+plam sijahs. Before tillering she had 18cm of reflex and after tillering holding 12cm of reflex. I should have given more reflex because it feels like the draw can be much longer but my hands are short :).

Great looking bow! Good job!
-
Do you have any full draw pictures?
-
Not yet, but will be. I couldn't make them alone :). And thank You!
-
Crony is made with 493.8355gr arrow
-
Nice congrats,,.if I understand the kg...the bow is shooting over 200 fps with arrow that is over 10 gpp

Thank You! Its 44 pounds
-
How to calculate gpp?
-
How long is it
-
60''
-
A 440 grain arrow would be 10 grains per pound
-
Ok, so its good result?
-
Great result
-
Waw :)!. I didn't know anything about gpp and its just about my tenth bow. I'm happy :D!
-
Wow! Congrats! Did you color the Ilac belly? looks like horn.... looking forward to fd (-S
-
Thank You, simk! Yes the belly is stained with some black stain that came off. I left that like it was and looks good to me :).
-
That's amazing. Find a 440 grain arrow and see what you get. If you're confident that it will draw farther try 28" draw. I'm impressed, very hard to do.

Thank You, DC :)! I don't have any lighter weight arrow. Actually I was waiting for Your comment because I know we both are speed freaks and like extreme :D :D .... I also know that You don't like bridges :D.
-
Really nice looking bow and that’s pretty awesome numbers. I’m looking forward to seeing the full draw pictures to . I’m guessing they look great by the braced and unbraced pictures, not to mention the crono number

The "sinew backed" just sunk in. I've only made one sinew bow(not the horn bow)and it was quite fast so I'm not sure now if 200 fps is excellent or just really, really good. maybe someone else will comment on sinew bow speed. It is a beautiful bow by the way. I've always wanted to try lilac but lilac doesn't grow very big and usually has a proud owner. :D
-
Yes, lilac doesn't grow big. That's the reason my bow is so narrow. just 1 inch. But i have noticed You are a big billets lover :D... That's a chance :). Most of my bows are sinew backed because.... guess why? :D...Ok, because they are safe and by my mind simple to make and tiller :D.
-
Really nice bow. Impressive efficiency also. Great job.
-
Thank You :)! I always give my best.
-
Take the tip off arrow,,,then wrap tip with tape till it weighs 440 grains,,, )W(
-
Nice job! That is a "Done Good"! I would think 200+ fps is excellent for almost any self bow! Got to learn how use use my chronograph!

That's a real beauty! I love the shape, the colors, and the idea of lilac wood. Thanks for sharing!
-
Wow that is very fast! (A) (A)
-
incredibly fast bow and pretty too! What's the white skin near the tips?
-
Looks like a lot of hard work went into that build. Lots of nice detail work! I don't much like to comment until I see a F/D pic but I totally get not having a qualified photographer around:) Looks great.

Thank You all for good words :)!
aaron, I'm not sure what You asking :). The back is covered with goat skin.
Here is the FD picture. It's not me, its my son and his draw is 29''. He was in a hurry and unfortunately I couldn't make crony:
-
If You look at second picture You can see natural bend forward by the handle, on the left side. That's why the upper limb seems to bend more.
-
that is amazing!
-
This bow deserves a lot more credit than it's getting,
-
I agree. That 200 fps barrier is a big deal. It sure has stumped me. And on top of everything it's gorgeous. ;D ;D
-
Yes agreed :)

Let's just vote on BOY now.

Wow. (A)

In fairness it's not a selfbow but it gives a lot of insight into what wood can do in place of horn in a similar design.
-
Wow.... some guys still like my bow :). Thank You!
I was hoping for a bit more attention to this bow and I was slightly disappointed because of very little interest. Actually its a good lesson for my beginners bowyer EGO to understand that what I do, I do first for myself and its just my hobby i like and makes me happy :D. Actually the positive comments the bow got compensate everything :D. Maybe I should post more bows I have made, not just the best ones :D....

I agree and its exactly how i see it :) ...

Love that bow. A Brush Rocket for sure.

Impressive. With that speed your bow should set a world record in flight shooting
-
maitus, would you please tell me about the little bridges near the tips? I mean the little bits that hold the string away from the limb. What is their purpose?
-
Hi, WhistlingBadger!
The bridges don't holding string away from limbs, in my case, but holding string on the limb :). It wouldn't stand on concave curve of the belly without them. I could also file string grooves into belly, but there is a very thin layer of lilac and I didn't want to file through it. Also, the bridges help to rise the string height without bending the bow and shorten the movement of the limb tips. As we know the straight bow has a higher string tension. And I believe that when the string reaches to the bridges after release, the string will move much faster between them and will give some extra fps to the arrow.
-
So, the bridges keep the string from slipping sideways off the recurves, which they otherwise would because the belly is rounded?
-
Yes, bridges form a localized belly groove rather than having it extended along the whole recurve.
-
Very cool, awesome performance

I do not know anything about flight shooting :D...Very cool, awesome performance
Thanks a lot :)!

OK, thanks, both of you. That makes sense. Might I add, for what it's worth, they look pretty cool, too. 8)

Great job on a beauty of a bow. Well done!
