This is my first post on the forum and I take the opportunity to say hello everyone.
This is also my first plum bow.

That looks very nice. Plum is great wood!
-
Great looking bow, plum takes less set than any bow wood I can think of. I think it is better than osage even.
-
Good job :)

Thanks a lot.
I have first impressions about plum, but I need more experience. However, I can not doubt in your opinion. I noticed Badger has a special relationship with plum, and I respect his opinion.

Very nice bow

Welcome to PA. Nice looking bow. I have heard lots of good comments about plum. Looks like a shooter

Dandy looking bow in all respects.I like it.

Awesome bow. Jawge

Very nice indeed. did you have to make a lot of corrections? I have a couple of plum stave but they will need lots of steam corrections to get them straight.
-
Bjrogg, good shooter for my standards, but I do not know if it's good enough. TimothyR, I had steam corrections and, after heat treating, re-corrections, but plum is easy to bend. Thanks guys

Looking good.

Stupid question, but if I were to keep my eye out for a plum tree, would I be looking for fruit on it in the fall that looks like a normal plum, or is this bow wood a bit different?
-
I think I would grab any plum. Some say purple leaf is the best. I haven't tried it. The secret bit of plum I've found is escaped from an old place. It has round yellow or red fruit. Nice wood. Just hard to find.

Actually, in my country is not hard to find wild plam. Yellow and purple fruits my mother used to making excellent juice, and our grandfathers for making alcohol drink. We recently started to use plam for bow making.

Thanks for the information. I will have to talk with my forester friend and ask him if he knows of any around here.
