Post by: HoleinthebowChuck on April 25, 2008, 01:28:00 pm
Here are some pictures of a bow I just finished.
the original stave had a 180 deg. twist.
Here are the specs.
68 1/2" NTN
53# @ 29"
1 5/8" at the fades
1 1/2" to mid limb
1/2" at tips.

Very nice bow, Chuck. You did a fine job with what most would use for firewood. 8)
Welcome to PA. You look like you will fit in just fine! ;D     Pat

A little dry heat does wonders on osage.
The hardest part on this stave was that
half of the twist was in the handle area.
It was hard to move with the extra wood
it this area. Thanks for looking.

Those are about exactly the dimensions I like so far for a stiff handle osage bow.  Looks real good, nice work.

Ryan
This was a stave that Gary Davis had at Hawkeye.
It had too much twist for Davy. :)
When it comes to Osage, I will try anything.
I will see you up at Hawkeye this weekend.

Thanks for looking and the comments.

SWEET!!! Awesome job on that.  Give's me lots of hope for all the crappy "free" wood I've accumulated.

Very nice bow Chuck. You did real good to tame that beast ;) Sometimes a twist can be the biggest beast to tame. I think you hold the record with that one. ;) Keenan

Chuck, It was nice meeting you and seeing your beautiful character bows. I think you've got them worked out. Gary told me he is always thinking of you when he gets good "holy" wood.     Pat
