How do you measure deflex?

I would say: put bow on floor, with the belly facing down and measure distance from handle to the floor

Deflex is the natural or induced curve of a bow toward the belly and is measured the same way as set (string follow).

Run a line between the two tips and measure the distance between the line and handle or center of bow.

with a protractor?

If I have straight limbs, 11° deflex in the handle and a 66" bow I will have about 5" of deflex from the handle to a line joining the tips. If I reflex the limbs starting just out of the fades the same bow can have no deflex measured the same way.
I've always used a protractor. Most of my deflexed bows are 11°. Reflexing the limbs messes up any measurement.
Am I thinking about this wrong?

if we just consider where the tips end up. it tells us little about how it got there, so we should call out the deflex angle out of the handle.  and maybe where along the length the limbs bottom out and start upwards.

I don't measure the deflex when I glue billets together.  The only thing I have noticed with deflex is that performance seems to suffer when it starts to go over 30 degrees (an estimate)
