A freind just brought over a huge erc log and it got us quite a few nice staves all around 66" long so sadly no elbs but thats fine cause i want to make a shorter sinew bow from the stave i get... i really dont know the capabilitys of sinew and erc so if im way off track lemme know... what i would like is a 58" - 60 " with a slight recurve? Drawing 45-50# @27"..... i have never sinew backed a bow before and will have to wait till this hunting season to get enough... also this erc log has probly been sitting in a shed for about 100 years (lol)
Anyway trying to get dimensions so i can ruff it out... what's all your experience with erc? Sorry thats a lot of questions (lol)

If you want to move forward on your project, I have some whitetail back sinew I could provide you. PM if you are interested.

I draw 26 built a 58" sinew ERC bow.. 48@26.. bow is a screamer... flipped tips reflexed with 25lb weight hanging on handle between two chairs while sinew dried.. left hanging for a few months.. held most of it...till slow.. wood is very soft.. once floor tilled I tilled the rest of the bow with just sandpaper... love it...1 3/4 wide at fades to mid limb taper to 1/2 nocks..gut

BTW.. I didn't sinew until bow was tilled to about 18" or 20" .. then I applied sinew... do not pull it far before being sinewed .. cedar blows usually from bad tension.. compression is great though..when it blows it blows violently....gut
