Title: Horizontal crack on back?
Post by: Selfbowman on June 21, 2020, 01:44:19 am
Not sure how this happened. Can it be backed with horn and save the bow?

I'm confused, you wouldn't normally put horn on the back of a bow... horn on the belly, sinew on the back.
If it is on the back the bow is pretty much toast unless a new back or a v long patch is added.

Del I have put horn on the back of two bows . They shoot good. My question is should I take that ring off or will glueing horn over the back keep the bow from delaminating under the growth ring that is cracked? Arvin

Cheers, interesting :)
Dunno, I'd guess the horn would be taking the tension, but you probably know better than the rest of us on this question!
