Hey people!!
Been busy a lot with other adventures and obligations but it's good to be back👍
I'm ready for tips (overlays probably) on my first good yew stave first yew I ever laid hands on by trade with Wizardgoat and only took 4 years to start into it.
56" and 40#
How wide is needed for reliable tips on yew?
Thanks all,
Marco

3/8-1/2"

I feel 1/2" is the safest for yew. Its not so much the width, as the softness of the wood at the nocks. They need to be deep enough so they really hold the string on. I also don't like a sharp edge near the back for the nocks. I have had a couple of yew bows split off one side of the nocks when getting a normal brace height bow string on.
Pin nocks are probably the strongest of self nocks.
A decent set of hardwood, or horn overlays, or full horn nocks are my preference with yew.

3/8-1/2"
+1 ... I just went and measured a couple :)
Mind tbf, it's more about the thickness than the width... the Molle with thin deep levers was 3/8" my go to field bow was 1/2"
