Title: Laburnum with crumbly sapwood
Post by: hochgart on September 07, 2020, 03:57:35 pm
Hello,
does anybody know the reason for the defect sapwood?

The wood was cuttet 6 weeks ago. I removed the bark
and sealed the ends.

Thank you

Was the wood freshly cut, whilst green, or was it cut from a dead standing tree?

Must be dieased or something? Labernum sapwood is normally like rubber!

was this a bend test? how far could you go? how does the sap feel under the drawknife? different from laburnum you may worked before? is there a lot of early wood in the sap? other observations?
