Is it safe (for the bow) to keep laminated recurves strung while hanging them vertically from a single peg?
-
Yep. Until a kid walks by..... :o
-
I hope you don't mean for storage. :o
-
NO not for storage, like after I shoot I put it on a peg in my room.Storage how could someone even think of that?
-
In my opinion a bow should not be left braced for any longer than necessary, whether self or laminated, straight or recurve.
The only exception seems to be the horn/sinew composite bows that are left braced for long periods of time, perhaps because they were quite difficult to string and balance in the first place.
A laminated bow can be hung vertically unstrung OK, but should not be left braced.
One day some brave soul will do a scientific study and measure the amount of set (or not) caused by leaving their bows braced for long periods of time!

Why would you wanna leave a bow strung if not in use ?
-
When you unstring your bow, let the loop slide down around the limb, then you can still hang it on a peg.
-
I have 1 bow and i shoot it every day just about. Is it ok to leave it like that for twenty-four hours.
-
O.K., I don't think that bracing and unbracing a bow is that much of an effort, It surely far outweigths the damage a wooden bow will have by being left braced unnecessary for extended periods of time ::) ::)
-
I've kept FG bows braced for over a year with no apparent ill effects.
But I surely would never try that with a wooden bow.
-
FG??
-
Sorry, FG = fiberglass

20 years ago I received a beautiful San Marco yew/glass from a friend which said 100#@29", but after two of us got it strung, I hung from the string and it went to about 20"( I'm not light ;)) we figured it was time to leave it strung for a while.. ;D
