Good day everyone,
Here is a bow I finished up recently, a bamboo/hickory/osage quad-lam with a cherry handle. The bow is 65" ntn and draws 37# at 28".
The bow has a stained bamboo back, translucent horn tip overlays, dual arrow shelves, and a beaver tail grip.
It started with 2-3/4" reflex and finished out retaining 1-1/4" of it.
The bow was finished off with a tru-oil finish. This is one of my first dual shelf bows of this design and I have to say I really the look and feel of the dual shelf. My goal for this build was to emulate a high end 1940's American longbow. This bow came out exactly how I had hoped!
Cheers,
Taylor

Your bows are some of my favorites. And this is no exception - pretty darn awesome! And I’ll second the comment about all the amazing bows being posted in the last couple weeks...

Beautiful bow with top notch attention to detail.

quite nice. the tips seem stiff by design? was most of the reflex mid and inner limb? I hope you can add an unbraced profile pic and maybe a comment of how it shoots?

Beautiful job

Looks great. Nice work.
Did you taper the lams?
How long are the fades?

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the nice words!
Willie, Here is an unbraced photo of a similar bow off of the same form.

The bow is reflexed throughout the entire limb. I do have most of the limb bending in the mid limb with the fades and tips fairly stiff. The bow shoots very well, it is not quite as fast as the R/D bows I build, but it makes up for it with a very sweet and quiet shot cycle. It is an enjoyable design that points and shoots very naturally.
Hamish,
Yes all of the laminations are tapered before glue up.
The fades are around 3-1/2" long.
Cheers,
Taylor
