Title: Latex paint (non bow related)

I have a can of latex paint that's 12 years old. The can has been well sealed the whole time. When I opened it the paint was kind of gelled. It wasn't skinned over, it had just thickened some. I tried a little sample and other than being too thick it dried well and seemed OK. Any paint experts can tell me if I can thin it a bit with water and use it with no problems?
