Is walnut a good bow wood for a board bow?

I don’t know about from a board. But it works great from a stave. It’s best to fully have a ring chased, but I found that the sapwood can take some ring violation without issue, I havnt tried it with heartwood  at this point. It’s a very low density but snappy wood. Especially when heat treated.

If you find a good piece go for it. No reason not to. Just keep it wide or long or both.

Make sure there is not any grain run out on the belly, even if you back it, this can cause frets.

It’s pretty good as a stave wood, never tried a board bow through. Like coon catcher said it’s great when heat treated, super light and snappy
