Title: yak sinew
Post by: WhistlingBadger on March 17, 2021, 02:06:42 pm
Anybody try it?  I just got off the phone with a guy down near Cheyenne that runs a yak ranch, and he's intrigued with the idea of somebody using his animals' sinew.  Said he'd send me a bunch (three animals' worth) at his cost if I report back on how it works.

Bovine sinew is bovine sinew.   You can crossbreed Yak and Cattle and Bison. In fact all sinew  is close to the same thing essentially.  It's all evolved to do the same thing.

I think you're right.  But you have to admit, "backed with yak sinew" sounds much more interesting than "backed with Hereford sinew."

It should make good wrapping for arrows and also sewing as well!  Ought to ge right up there with bison if the critters are somewhat free reange! Be glad to trade for some!

I haven't asked him.  Probably should!  Yak sinew and yak horn overlays would be cool!

I wouldn't use yeti sinew, though.  Yeti is unpredictable, dangerous, and comes apart in hot weather...
