I just got back from Texas on an Axis deer and turkey hunt with the Early Virginia rifle that I did the build article about in the magazine a few years ago. Had several stalks on Axis deer but now what I was looking for. But I did have an amazing hunt on a great Rio Gobbler that worked like a turkey should. He answered my call from about as far away as I could hear him and came in like a pro. dropped him with a 40 yard shot through both wing butts and breaking him down for good on the shot. 23 Lbs with 1 1/2 spurs and 9'' beard. This rifle has taken two turkeys and two hogs!

Good shooting Mike. :OK
Glad to see you are well.

Impressive Mr Mike.
Next time I'm across the river gonna have to stop by and see it in person. I'm due for some bow goodies anyway.

Nothing like making a kill with a gun you built, I have come close with my fowler but never closed the deal.
Got a few surgery recovery issues this season so the birds are safe.
