My favorite season of them all! Pheasant! mostly because it seems like its the only time i get anything... but im excited!!! I have tomorrow and saturday to go hunting this week! its shotgun though... ill be darned if i could hit a pheasant with a bow. plus, its not like the pheasants dont know im there when theyre flying off, so its already difficult. Unlike deer season where the difficulty is finding and waiting for the deer, for pheasants its being able to get the darn buggers up in the sky and getting them back down! i almost always see 1 or 2 pheasants in a day of hunting. whether or not i can down them is another question!

Good hunting, Russell! There is supposed to be a lot of birds this year. Not sure how much hunting we will get in this year, with working my knee acting up. A good bird dog helps a lot!

Good luck, Russell. I'm going to move this to "Around the Campfire" because you're gun hunting.
Looking forward to seeing pics of your birds.

sounds good Pat! thanks!

Hope you have a great hunt. :)

Good Luck on your hunt.
Here is a picture of my Grandson and I from last Saturday.
Take care, brian

And after the hunt.
Grilled pheasant (marinated in Italian dressing), my Wife's homemade baked beans and homemade apple sauce (from our trees). Grandson and my Wife did all the cooking. All I did was wash the dishes afterwards.

here is the picture ( note paper plates and plastic folk). Washing the dishes wasn't all that much.

These are the tail feathers of the first two pheasants I killed, they were my first hunting kills too. I came home one day and found out my mom hung them up on my wall. I think they’re pretty neat!

Thanks for posting ! Really takes Me back, to when We had "Ditch Parrots", and fabulous Hunting. Rare to Hear or see a Pheasant these days here in Mid-Michigan. Bob

Deerhunter21,
Pheasant Recipe (also works good on turkey or grouse)
step 1 - kill a pheasant
step 2 - filet out the breast
step 3 - marinate in Italian dressing
step 4 - cook on the grill
Baked Bean and Applesauce recipes - I have no idea. My Wife makes those.
Good luck on your hunt.

Way to go, Russell! I almost had a shot at one while we were deer hunting last Sunday, but wing shooting with a .308 is not a good idea (lol) :fp!

Wish I had pheasants round me ! Looks like a blast ;D
Pretty birds! I have had a disappointing season only seeing 3 deer in the 2 months I’ve been hunting, big hardwood forests hard to hunt…

Smile says it all, congrats. :) :)

Nice bird! Is it your first?
-
Thankyou guys!!
WF: no this is not my first. I believe it is my fifth actually. But funny enough this is my first ever kill where I was all by myself!!!

Congrats Russell. Nice looking bird. We "had" pheasants all over the place when I was growing up. Now, they're as rare as bigfoot.
