Title: Istanbul Conquest cup 2022 results

I figured out some of you might be interested in this. This time i managed to get my name there also! :)

There is 33 participants, but i'm not sure if a few less actually shot. Even though there was no new records made, the skill level in shooting keeps increasing. 13 guys shot past 400m with hornbow and wooden arrow!

Airline lost Adam K's bow bag, so i borrowed him my second bow. Naturally, he couldn't do the same with it as he was expecting with his own. My bow was a little bit lighter at 85#. Maybe the arrows didn't fit the bow either, since he lost quite many arrows. Hopefully next year everything goes well, since he will be shooting those 500 meter shots then. I need to practice and prepare for that!

I think i had the lightest bow of the competition, 75# @27,5". I shot it with siper, thumb ring and 24" arrows as usual. 458m is a new Finnish record, so i'm happy. :)

The winner of competition actually shot full length arrows at 28-29", bow was Cem Dönmez's bow 105# @28".

Synthetic competition was won by Peter Bogar, 566m distance.

These are some great results!  It is amazing how much progress modern bow builders and archers have had with sinew-wood-composite bows in the last decade!  I love it!

Very good results! I think a large part of the improvements have been in the arrow technology, or possibly a better understanding of the old arrow technology.

Yep, i enjoy being one of the global bowyers community for sure. Building bows, shooting and sharing new experiences with others.
It was somewhat new information to me that there are these guys who have been building hornbows for so long, but they haven't really looked into the flight shooting. Now Adam and Ivar have been creating some interest and hopefully more bowyers and archers join eventually.

The whole package needs to be handled in order to shoot 500m, heavy&fast bow, proper arrow tuning, shooting technique etc etc. But we can still find a lot of details to do better.
Thats why i think next year it will be easily +500m for top 3. :)

These are by far the best distances I have seen for a group, the bar has certainly been raised.

Anybody fancy taking one of my flight bows next year? I've got one that is about 90#@28", years ago it did close to 600m from a shooting machine.
Great to see the results!

I don't know, maybe you should come and shoot it by yourself? I think all the bowyers want to shoot their own bow.
600m seems plenty. Was it with full length arrows or 24"?
90 pounds should be doable with siper also. Adam says his mission is to shoot 600 meters with 90# bow.

Josef got 530 yards out of an English longbow I made him during practice at about 90#. It broke down a little and gave him 450 yards in the official match. It really surprised me that an Elb could do that. Not sure what kind of arrow he was using.
