Title: 54# Cherokee-Inspired Osage Selfbow

A customer asked if I could make him a full kit in my own style but incorporate his Cherokee heritage. My specialty! There's not much I love more than drawing inspiration from the ancient, tried and true designs.

This 68" long Cherokee-Inspired Osage Selfbow finished out at 54# at 28" draw. The fletchings are trimmed to match an Eastern Woodlands artifact, and hand-crafted steel trade points adorn the business end of the hunting arrows. I really enjoyed this build. You'll just have to trust the profile shots for this one. I forgot to grab a full draw before it went out.

 In lieu of a full draw the braced and unbraced profiles suggest a good tiller profile.

Beautiful bow. really like those nocks. Is it bending in the handle?

Fletch is well done.
BTW, your posts on man tall bows motivated me to build longer, not exactly man-tall, but 68", and I am looking forward to some easier shooting compared to my 53 or so inchers.

Askel, it has a minimalist handle, but it doesn't bend.

Mark, that's awesome! I've tried lots of different styles and always come back to bows that are about 2 inches shorter than "man tall". Taking a couple of inches off makes them a little more efficient but they still have all the favorable shooting characteristics of a longbow. Lots of my customer work is about 2" shorter than the archer unless they have an unusually long or short draw. I think you'll find them much easier to shoot than 53 inches!
