This bow was supposed to be a heavy D cross section longbow, but as I got to floor tiller I started finding grubs tunnels, so I cut it to put them closer to the tips, I made the limbs assymetrical so I could have ove shorter.
I never reached the end of the tunnels, but where I could I packed dust and super glue.
I had a really big tunnel rigth in the middle of the handle too, the handle gives a bit at full draw, I tell you was quite stressfull to shoot her in ;D :o :o
60" ntn 62 # @ 27", 3/16" positive, the tips are 1" in front of the handle, overlays are zebrawood, finished with TRU OIL.
Gotta go to work now, when I come back I'll wrap the handle and take all the final pictures, ...here a little sneak peak.
Guava migth not be up there with the best bowwoods, but surely can't foult it for toughtness and beauty

-
Looks like ya nailed it Manny, its kinda straight but it ought to do ;) :)
-
Very nice! ;)
-
Nice bow Manny. That Guava is a pretty impressive bow wood
-
Nice Manny. Pat
-
You are a bow building machine. I think guava is as good as any other bow wood. Some have different characteristics, but as long as it makes a good bow, who cares. I like how easily it works with hand tools. Justin
-
Wonderful bow. Short which always impresses me and guava, to boot. Thanks for the Full Draw
-
thanks guys,
you can see how I kept the outher bottom limb a bit stiffer, I just didn't know how extensive some of those tunnels are so I played it safe
-
NICE!!!
-
thanks Dano
-
So Manny, you just filled the tunnels with super glue and saw dust? I've done that on small ones but never on bigger ones like in your bow. I don't think my snake guava has any bigger tunnels just small ones...and they are all filled. Pat
-
Dang Manny that bow turned out nice. One of these days I gotta get over there and visit you in your shop - I'd learn a thing or two about making self-bows.
-
Fantastic workmanship as usual, Manny! (I didn't realize you'd changed your handle, I've been so busy lately - LOL)
-
Thanks Bernie.
-
YEAH RIGHT, GORDON !!......If you ever show up at my shop, I'll put you strait to work, and I'll be doing a lot of watching ;) ;)
-
Due to recent developments I've chosen not to partecipate in the BOM contest.
Don much appreciated fro not adding this bow to the list
Thanks
Manny
