Title: Nethers Farm?
Post by: paulc on December 17, 2022, 10:40:59 am
Headed for the frozen north for the holiday :)  Anyone know if Nethers is still an option for collecting stone?

Thanks, Paul

Curious about Nether’s, as I pass through that area at least once a year.  Is it all just picking through what has been exposed before?  Do they periodically uncover new rock?  Can you come in and dig, and if so, to what extent.  Pretty dang cool they open it to the public regardless.

Considering the weather this week I did not go to Nethers but I did visit w Roy Miller this morning. He showed me around his operation. Really nice guy, happy to answer my questions, showed me a bunch of different rock. I left w 2 bags of flakes that all should have a hunting point in them if I do my part.

Nethers is great if you're up for some ball busting work. Last I was there you had to dig your own. There are discards laying around on the surface but they've been discarded for a reason. And the stone really needs to be cooked to make it knap well.

Fwiw, Paul
