Title: Goodnight mom, I love you
Post by: sleek on December 17, 2022, 05:28:52 pm
I lost my mom on the 13th. I will never have had the chance to love her enough. I wrote this at her bedside but didn't have the heart to read it out to her. I couldn't. But I left a copy on her pillow after she passed.

These pieces of my heart
Removed from their place
I lay them to rest with tears on my face
I love you and I love you more,
Words in solitude whispered behind a closed door

The last days have come too soon
I was always grateful for every I love you
Here I am, your son, a full grown man
Wanting nothing but to collapse into your arms and be your baby again

I didn't have you long enough, I will never have
There's always going to be more I wish we could do
When I'm not ready to lose you
I wasn't done loving you yet
I love you mom
You love me more
Pieces of my heart gone
To be laid to rest when I walk through that door
Goodnight my sweet mother
I love you forever

My 93 year old mother passed away in July. I was there when she died. It has been difficult for me also.

Lost my mom 17 years ago and still miss her.

Lost my dad in July after a long difficult journey with Alzheimer’s.

My dad didn’t know me for the last year or so. It was very difficult just visiting him with Covid restrictions and then dealing with the Alzheimer’s.

The last couple months he didn’t talk anymore. I would read him articles I wrote for PA magazine. They really seemed to comfort him and make both of us feel better. I really think they helped him remember me.

Sorry for your loss Sleek. My only advice is remember the good times. Enjoy the memories and make her proud. I’m sure she already is
