Anyone going? Moving to Florida in about a week and a half, it would be nice to see some of the people on here.
-
It seems like some of the guys went in the past and it sounded like a good meet. I think you should try to get there at any rate.
When is it?
It’s a long way from here, but really way overdue for a vacation.

It's the 18th and 19th of February. Only about 1.5 hrs from my soon to be home

It has turned into one of the best knap-ins in Florida, maybe the SE. Famous knappers and vendors selling rock and supplies like Craig Ratzlif and Roy Miller. Demonstrations like Pottery making, dugout canoes, bow making.
-
I was hoping you would jump in here Eddie.
I’m thinking about trying to get there. I really do owe my wife a vacation and sounds like a good one.
I’m not even sure where it is. I just googled mapped Silver River and it looks like a campground’s if I remember correctly close to Ocala?

I’m working on it Allyn. I’m having some eye problems and trying to get to specialist so that might interfere. Right now driving is a bit of a struggle for me.
Hopefully things work out and we can get together there.
At any rate I’m sure you need to get there. Sounds like a can’t miss opportunity for sure.

Brian, It is Ocala, Fl. Search Silver Springs, Silver Glen State Park. They still have the glass bottom boats touring the Spring and river. It is where they filmed the old black and white Tarzan Movies, Sea Hunt and Movies like the Monster From the Black Lagoon. There is still monkeys in the trees.
Entry to the Park for the Knap In is free along with parking. There is a small fee to get into the knap in. There is an excellent museum on site with a lot of Florida points, including the famous "Big Red" in Overstreet's book.

That sounds great Eddie. I really hope we can make this happen.
Before I was married and still flew my old Cessna 150 a lot. I flew to Ocala with my instructor in his Cherokee 180. He had a friend there that lived in a hanger house combined on a grass runway. I think there was probably 5 or 6 other hangers. Was a nice place.
Are you going Eddie?

Afraid we won’t be making it.
My wife’s mother passed away in her sleep last night

Very sorry to hear about your wife's Mother, Brian.
I can't make it either. I'm headed to the Pre Spring Shoot at Buck Hollow Feb. 23ird.

Thanks Eddie.
I asked Allyn to take lots of pictures.
Maybe next year. Sounds like a good time to head south for a few days anyway.
