Title: Pig hides
Post by: Jakesnyder on January 28, 2023, 08:48:42 pm
I'm going to be killing a couple hogs and was wondering what there hides are good for? Are they hard to tan because of how thick they are?  Maybe bark tan them?

Lots of scraping. The hide are very useful.

I have never tried to tan one but I have a buddy that brings one back from south GA. now and then, we just scrape it good , leaving the hair on ,  dry it and it is then rawhide, hang them on the wall around the cabin, the hide is thick and I am sure could be used for many projects. I have lots of deer rawhide so never tried it, they are just cool to look at hanging around.  :)
