Title: Hope She Was Worth It
Post by: Piddler on February 14, 2023, 07:16:55 pm
Yep got tangled up with an 18 year old female. Came away with lots of scratches and probably 70 or 80 puncture wounds. Not really much blood though. This had to be the thorniest tree I have ever seen. It was either cut or injured when a sapling and had three trunks coming up, Two were big enough to cut and pretty straight. One side better than the other. I got 4 good staves from one side and three from the other with a piece enough to make a billet. Limb got in the way on one side.
Anyway, This tree was in the biggest bunch of saplings and green briars and have I mentioned that every limb was super thorny unlike any I have ever seen. I had to load all the brush and haul it off or I would have made an enemy for life.
All in good fun and I'll have a few good staves ready in a couple years.

Tim Bo,
It was Bois D' Arc but it was thorny with top branches that went everywhere and every which way. I can see why they were used for fencing. And it was worth it. Fairly wide ringed and pretty straight. Read somewhere that female trees make good bows. I'm happy with it though. Can't wait till they dry.

I am sure it will be worth it, you will look back in a few years and say "Ha you remember when" , that's what memories are made up of.  ;) :)
