Title: tiller help please
Post by: stuckinthemud on May 06, 2023, 04:15:58 am
Morning!

I am in danger of perfecting this into the bin but the limbs are not quite balanced and I cannot see why. I could really do with a fresh pair of eyes on this.  Thanks in advance.

Looks a bit stiff just above centre...
E.G. In the top pic, the lower limb looks ok, top limb stiff just above where it is supported, (above the fade).

Looks pretty even, lower limb might bend more even, upper more at the fade. Lower limb might look a little stiffer but it can all be due to the angle of the photo. is it taking any set?

It took a small amount of set early on in the process but has not taken on any additional set recently. even after getting past brace. Here's the really wierd thing, I could just squeeze my middle finger through the gap between the centre and the bench, but they both rubbed the skin, then I tempered the bow - only a light tempering, and the bow was not strapped down - and then re-measured the set and it has almost all disapeared.  Long and short, one limb has no set, the other has a natural deflax-reflex curve which has taken on about 1/4" of additional set

Been working on it a little bit, now got it to full draw, its showing a bit under 1cm of set in the outer 1/3 of both limbs.  I think I may have gone one scrape too far on the top limb?  I kinda want to scrape at the centre of the bottom limb just once or twice, but, I may be bettter putting a few shots through it and then see where I am.  Really could do with some input on this please

Looks a bit stiff just to the left of center to me. Otherwise she looks good.

That’s what I see too.
