Title: D-Day 79th
Post by: Stoker on June 06, 2023, 03:12:19 pm
Today is the 79th anniversary of the landing. I have the privilege of  knowing a WWII vet. He served in the Canadian Navy, also in Korea. There is not a lot of these people left. We owe them.
Thank a Vet
Leroy

I had the privilege of being born to, and brought up by a D-Day veteran - my Dad. He joined up initially with the Royal Army Service Corps (RASC), which was then transformed into the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) in the British Army. He ran and fought up onto Gold beach on his 22nd birthday.  He went on to serve in the far east until peace was made. Those guys were made of tougher stuff than most, and he passed just before his 90th birthday in 2012.  Rest in peace, Dad.
