I've tillered the boo backed osage glue-up James Parker gave me at the Classic. The reason she's not for BOM is James did the glue-up. All I did was tiller and finish.
The bow on the bottom is the glue-up James gave me...

I'll post more pics after I add a few more coats of Tru-Oil. I've got about 4 coats on her now. It's been raining so the Tru-Oil is slow to cure out.

What a beauty...it also looks like you added some wood to lengthen the fades? BBOs are the bomb! :OK
-
No, Bob, there was already two thin pieces between the riser block and the osage belly. I did reduce the thickness of the riser considerably so it was more comfortable for me.
-
I like it Pat.
-
Wow Pat, you ever cease to amaze. Beautiful detail and finish work.
-
I finished up with the Tru-Oil yesterday and sprayed a coat of satin poly on this morning. I'll give it a day or two to cure out well then I'll post more pics.

I like it! I’m gonna tackle one like this soon. I would like to do one similar anyway. I like his boo backed and bellied bows too. Your handle wrap… is that rattan strip?
-
Yeah, Dave. Rattan chair caning. I've got extra if you need some. :OK
The bow on the top is a boo back/belly James made for me and I picked up at the Tenn. Classic this spring. The bow in the middle is the bow this post is about.

Love it!

Nice.

Fine looking bow Pat, love the handle. Wish I could have made it to the classic. Maybe next year.
-
I’d love some pat. If you’ve got a little to spare that would be awesome. Let me know and dm me at your convenience
Cheers. Dave

Nice Pat ;) I got one too ;D

Very cool, Pat!

Here she is, guys. 68" t/t, 66"n/n, 1 3/8" at the fades with a straight taper to the 3/8" tips. James has added a dye job to the back but it started rubbing off as I was tillering so I rubbed down the back with 0000 steel wool which gave it an interesting patina so I left it like that. She's got 6 coats of Tru-Oil with a steel wool rubdown after each coat and a spray of satin pole to cut the shine. The tip overlays are osage, the handle wrap is rattan chair caning with a red leather floppy rest.
I've put about 50 arrows through her and she shoots well but with a bit of thump. After looking at the full draw pic I can see the outer 1/3 of each limb is stiff which could be the cause. She pulls 44# @26".

That looks great pat! That finished out very nice.
-
I like that bow!
-
Thanks, Guys. I still think the outer limbs should bend more. I've always had troubles seeing and achieving proper tiller with R/D style bows. I think the full draw shape should follow the lines of the deflexed handle area forming a more circular bend at least to the last 6 or so inches from the tips. I think these stiffer outer limbs is causing more hand shock than necessary. I may revisit this problem. She's at 44#@26" now so I can afford to loose a little weight but if necessary I could pike the tips to even that back out.

I'm in love with the handle on this one, fantastic craftsmanship!
-
Airka, James Parker did the glue up. All I did was shape the handle to my liking and added the rattan wrap...but thanks. :OK

Nic bow Pat! I love the couple BBO’s I’ve finished. Very smooth shooters. Great job!
