Title: bamboo for target arrows??

OK, so, for the first time since 1986 I am thinking of joining an archery club.  I visited for a look-see and its wall to wall Olympic or compound.  Apparently there are one or two ELB shooters but they weren't there last night.  Anyway, everyone there was very welcoming, but most are shooting very snazzy CF arrows from very fancy rigs at distances from 30 yds upwards.  I will be shooting American flatbow/ELB/barebow, and I need to sort myself a set of arrows that won't embarrass me.  I have a dozen bamboo shafts dry and ready to build with, but I have never got a bamboo shaft completely straight.  For target work, should I bother with the bamboo or order up a set of ORC shafts?  Next if I do go with the bamboo, what sort of diameter shaft will I need for target points and a 40lb bow?

Turns out bamboo is fine if you shoot field archery (NFAS) but not allowed if you shoot target (Archery GB/WA).  Go figure that one out. All the clubs in my region are AGB
