That's a beautiful little knife!  Question:  Do you actually use a knife like that?  If so, how do you keep it sharp?

I have used them before but really don’t very often. Usually when I’m using a knife I’m getting serious about something.

To sharpen I would have to remove some flakes by pressure flaking.

Been looking at the last stuff you’ve posted  Bjrogg and I’m curious if you points/blades are obsidian. It looks like it but there’s lots of different stuff out there.
That’s a cool little knife. My New Year’s resolution is a couple good points.

Yes muskyman. This is obsidian my cousin collected from several years at glass butte. It’s from spalls.

In some ways it’s easier than flint and in others it’s more difficult.

PS it comes in lots of colors

Thought so. I’ve got some mahogany obsidian. Definitely a different animal than the Georgetown I’ve had. I’d love to go out to glass butte one day. I’ve watched a few videos of people out there collecting obsidian. Crazy how much is just laying everywhere.
The handle on that knife kinda reminds me of prickly pear cactus.

The handle is cholla cactus gifted to me from another PA member.

There's an Obsidian Cliff in Yellowstone, but of course it is verbotten to collect or even to go into the area.  I know why they have to have rules like that, but it's a shame.  I could make a quick trip and make somebody very happy in next year's Christmas trade.

Really nice work, Brian.  You knapping guys amaze me.  Working stone is strange magic.

Thank You WB. It is pretty magical. Honestly I’m amazed by flint knapping guys too.

I’m ok, but there certainly are a bunch of them on a much higher level than myself
