Title: Bendy handle tiller check
Post by: JW_Halverson on May 05, 2025, 10:27:26 pm
Osage bendy handle jobby.

Left limb is upperlimb. At full brace the bottom limb is 1" weaker, but at 24" draw it's 1" stronger. I have had this happen several times recently with bows and it is starting to bug me!

Looks fine to me... the thing with a waggly stave that is bend through the handle... there isn't really an upper and lower limb, the whole thing is just one bending piece and how do you measure weaker of stronger on a waggly stave?
It will always be in balance by virtue of it all bending an pivoting in the grip.
I did an interesting (some might say, long and tedious, others may say erudite and amusing) experiment with a slat of boo, supporting it at different positions and watching how the whole thing bends as one.

Looks a little flat just out of the block on right hand limb. Squinting at the picture makes anomalies stand out.
