If you have a bow built this month and want to enter it into the competition for this month, post the link here. The prize will be an entry into the end of year giveaway, and your picture posted on the front page of the new site, which is planned to be released by the end of this month.

This should be good, I know some beautiful bows come out of this bunch, heck I just saw one 😉 Pappy
-
Looking forward to this. I miss BOM. :OK
-
Man, I have a cool one in the pipeline that won't be ready for another month or so (if it doesn't explode). Can I enter one I finished last spring?

There is no way to verify when it was built, so... SURE! But if you dont mind, include some build photos and a little write up of it please :)

OK, cool. Here's my entry.

Now that’s one great looking bow. Well done.
-
Ok here is one of the best I’ve built out of 335 bows. Same record caul . Clean straight grain Osage 47
@27,67” ntn, 1-3/4” at fades. No tool marks, no sanding marKs , D97 string, 6 coats of true oil. Here are some pics.
-
That was growth ring ratio pic. Here is one on the record caul that I have a passion for.
-
Finished bow
-
No frills, no fancy photo ops just a good shooting selfbow that took very little set . The way they shoot is what important after all!!
-
Excellent bow, no frills but an excellent bow. That stave has about the best growth rings and ring ratio I've ever seen. With your talent and that "perfect" stave no wonder it came out so well.
-
My kind of bow Arvin. Simple yet beautiful, and I’m sure it shoots as good as any bow you’ve made. Those growth rings are the best I’ve ever seen. How many ended up in the finished bow?
-
Three and a half. One on the back one in the middle and one on the belly. Then it had the fourth go from fades to past mid limb. The edges of the belly ring appear the whole way along the edge of the fourth ring showing how straight the grain truly is. It was a pleasure to work this stave!! I spent probably ten more hours on this one even though this good a stave requires less work on the heat bench.
-
Thanks Arvin. I can only dream of staves like that. But icut my own, so take what I get.
-
October is shaping up to have some good entries! We still have a couple weeks left, so if you want to be in the running for October, get them bows posted!
-
Bentstick when I harvested Osage I would cut a small pie shape from the bottom of the trunk of the tree. Check the rings and if they did not make the two to one ratio I would leave it standing and move on to the next tree. That and bark going straight up and down the trunk.
-
Beautiful bow Arvin as usual. :)

-
Daaaaaang - That is the holy grail of staves - resulting in a beautiful bow.
-
Arvin--wow. I bet that's a sweet shooter. Hopefully I'll get my hands on a stave like that someday.
-
So I’ll contribute to the fun. Osage, plain and simple. 42#@28”, 66” ntn. Took advantage of a little natural wiggle at the handle so string lines up with the edge of the sight window. Not center shot, but close to it. 5 coats of Truoil finish, and hobby store leather handle wrap.
-
Full draw.
-
I love that style, good job.
-
Ice full draw Bentstick! I for got to do one.🤠
-
Interesting to see the BOM is making a comeback.
-
Thats a beautiful one too Bent! Looks like a smooth shooter!

If this bow is eligible for the Bow of the Month competition, I’ll enter, first time ever. I actually made this bow in October.

-
Damn mines gonna be another week at least!
-
Take your time. We will do this again next month too!
-
Just finished this one up from another wonky stave. Osage 47#@28”, 66” ntn. Has about a1/2” knot hole in the upper limb. Roadkill prairie rattler skins for decoration.

Excellent entry and thank you for adding it!

I love this bow, you did an excellent job. What did you use for the rest, and did you use serving at the end of the snake skin?
-
Wallski, I glue a couple of thin pieces of leather that I use for the handle wrap, the sleeve them down and glue it on, the wrap the handle. I used some thin black polyester upholstery thread to cap off the snake skins with, coated with a thin coating of superglue before finishing everything with Truoil.

Sorry for got the photo

Like this.

Looks great Bentstick!!!
-
Very nice bow. :OK
-
That's a beauty, very nice work. :)

This is the bow I got my deer with this October. I shot it from 25 yards. Its 43" ntn and draws 45lbs at 20". It zips an arrow 145 fps. It has a tooooon of string follow but still has a bunch of power obviously. Haha it sent my 400 grain arrow with a trade point all the way through a white tail deer. Its a sinew backed elm bow. I love how compact it is. It definitely gives me an advantage when hunting because I can get through tight spaces and stay small when stalking.
-
Oh yeah its a yucca bowstring and I painted the back of it with wild grape juice and to turn it that indigo color i gathered some alkaline powder from a dried up slough. There is a chemical reaction that happens when you mix wild grape juice with a base. Its kinda like litmus testing paper. When the solution is a base it turns blue and when its an acid it turns red.

That is outrageously cool! I'm not extremely accurate with short bows like that or I would use them more. What kind of release technique do you use to avoid string pinch?
I love the natural bowstring and the natural back camo, too.

Love that bow, very cool. :)

I have no idea haha. I kinda just snap shoot. I just let it happen and pretend I am just throwing it like a ball. I also have a pretty short full draw. My full draw is 24" so that 4" loss is definitely something but I can totally shoot fine. I can do a full draw with that bow i just dont like to because it stacks so much and doesn't really make it shoot faster. At 24" draw the bow is like 60lbs which i dont really like shooting that heavy of a draw weight. But its a very reliable little how and I have no doubt it would take deer down even with stone points. Oh yeah the arrow shafts the I use are also made out of Willow. Willow actually works pretty darn good for the bows that I make. They shoot like a laser from it. Also thank you to you and Pappy! I really enjoy that little bow. Its super durable haha I couldn't break it if I tried.

First off thats a seriously cool bow, and an awesome shot of you packing that deer out. Second, do you have a thread about this bow?

No I don't should I make one? What do I need?
-
You dont need to this time, but its helpfull. Just make a thread detailing the bow and a little about how it was made, and anything else about the bow you want to add. It helps you out when judging time comes to have a little more known about the bow than some photos. This being the first BOM since the site came back, things are a little chaotic but I want all future entries to be entered with a link to the build to streamline things.
-
If anyone on here has submitted a bow, and you have a link about that bow on the site, ease post the link below. It will help things out. Its not necessary this time, but all future BOM contests will need that.
-
Hey sleek, hope you will find remedy for the sick pa patient - from my side I'll contribute with Todd's bow:
