Title: Shoot arrows: Which way does the taper go?
Post by: WhistlingBadger on March 09, 2026, 10:00:04 pm
Working up some shoot shafts and have a couple almost ready to try out.  I'm guessing the taper goes narrow-end back?  That would make more sense to me because I want an FOC arrow, plus the thick end is going to be stronger.  What says the PA oracle?

I put the larger end at the point and smaller end at the nock.

Yes, narrow end back towards the nock. That gives you a forward heavy arrow(FOC) which flies better. The natural taper gives the arrow a wider range for draw weight.
