Another nice bow, Akila. How long/wide is it? Looks like it would be a very smooth shooter.
-
That's a sweet piece, brother. I assumed you stained it? Why is the handle and tip areas so dark?

That looks like a dandy one Akila! Bet she's snappy..
-
Hy guys.....man you guys are quicq with replays ;D....this is good....well the bow is 70" nok to nok...and its 3cm wide at the center and, half an inchi at the nok....the bow is staned....the tips and the handle area are in black and the rest of the bow is red....the bow is shooting verry well...

Very nice bow. Excellent tiller.

wow that is nice! i like the stain job too...good on ya! im really starting to like longer bows. i made a fiew 65" and under, but the last one i did was 70.5" ntn and it is so smooth, and dead on accurate. and its really not that much more to handle in the woods either.
good job man!

Beautifull bow Akila. Very clean lines, gracefull arc and nice finish. looks like it would be a smooth shooter as well. Keenan

I love that stain job. Nice bow as usual. :) How is ash to work compared to hickory? I have an ash stave with about 3 inches of natural deflex. I was planning to flip the tips and was hoping for something under 60 inches that I could shoot out of a tree stand. Any words of advice you could give would be geat. Your bows are all awsome works of art as well as tools.

Hi guys, and thks a lot....i can tell you that ash is pretty good wood for making bows.....for Elb like this you have to have a more rectangular cros section , not a true D section,,,... the wood must be cured, and dry, and its realy easey to work.....i had made this bow, using only my draw knife, and some sand paper, and also ash respond verry well to heat treating....i dont know nothing abute hickory, becose this type of wood its not available here.....thks again....

Wow, that one inspires me to want to give ash a try. Great stain job and the whole thing looks like a joy to shoot. Danny

Nice bow akila!
I just cut some Oregon Ash along the Columbia River last weekend - its already starting to check and the splits are winding around the stave - I guess thats what happens when a tree grows in the windy Columbia Gorge. Probably wouldn't have made a good bow like your's there. I'll have to find some now in a less windy area. Thats a gorgeous bow.
